How Multi-Location Stock Transfers Work
Published by Mudasir Khan | Logistics & Workflow Guide
When stock runs low at the sales counter, inventory must be transferred from secondary warehouse racks to front-of-house shelves. Stock transfers ensure that inventory levels update accurately across both locations without double-counting or losing track of items.
The Stock Transfer Process
- 1. Low-Stock Alert Triggered: The system detects that shop counter location `R1L1B1` has fallen below its alert threshold (e.g. fewer than 5 units).
- 2. Location Selection: Staff select the source warehouse location chip (e.g. `[WR1L1B1 ยท 50 pcs]`).
- 3. Quantity Adjustment: Transfer quantity is decremented from `WR1L1B1` and added to `R1L1B1`.
- 4. Balance Verification: Total overall inventory (`stock`) remains unchanged, while individual location quantities accurately reflect physical shelf counts.
Workflow Integration in Prince Picker
Prince Picker handles multi-location stock management natively via interactive location chips, allowing shop staff to switch between `EDIT` and `ADD` location modes, manage per-location stock, and execute stock transfers seamlessly.
